For our November 11th Science Talk, Tony Shawcross will be speaking about Proposition 122 and Psychedelics from a Secular/Skeptical Lens.
# Event Description
Psychedelics have been gaining recognition for their ability to support mental and physical health in recent years. Last year, Colorado voters passed Proposition 122 which made psychedelic mushrooms, DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline legal for people over the age of 21 to possess, grow, share, and use in Colorado. Colorado’s Senate Bill 290 further defined this groundbreaking expansion of access to these 4 natural medicines across the state.
For the Secular Hub’s Nov 11 Science Saturday, Tony Shawcross is offering a free informational session to learn about these new medicines and how they can be helpful for personal use and for professional healers, therapists and coaches. The talk will begin with an overview of the plants themselves, followed by a summary of the new laws and regulations. In addition to introducing the plant medicines and laws, Tony will facilitate a discussion about the insights and perspective offered by psychedelics, including the context of mysticism, religion, and fantasy that pervades most psychedelic communities and practices in Colorado.
